Carving starts with the feather groups being "stepped" and the individual primary flight feathers being carved on the top side.
The next group to be traced on and carved are the secondary flight feathers.
This shows the curvature of the wing.
Before the secondary flight feathers are carved on the top side, the primary flight feathers on the bottom of the wing were carved.
