It was just about when the head was almost completely carved that the Kestrel decided he wanted to be different than the clay sketch. He wants to look down his back at a steeper angle, because now he's got his left wing opened across his back, instead of to the side. So......off came the head. A new one was cut out and will be attached after it's carved.
The head is rounded and the eye channels are cut in.
And rounding the channel down to form the cheeks and up into to where the brow ridge will be.
