Lastly, ORANGE.
My palette will consist of:
  • Orange-red = Cadmium Red Light (PR 108)
  • Violet-red = Quinacridone Violet (PV 19)
  • Orange-yellow = Cadmium Yellow Medium (PY 35)
  • Green-yellow = Hansa Yellow Light (PY 3)


9 - GREEN-YELLOW + VIOLET-RED

9. Hansa Yellow Light & Quinacridone Violet ~ yeild muted, low-intensity oranges. Neither of these pigments are good carriers of orange and contain the complementary colors of the other.

- 10 - GREEN-YELLOW + ORANGE-RED

Green-yellow & Orange-red


- 10. Hansa Yellow Light & Cadmium Red Light ~ produce mid-intnsity oranges. They are brighter than those in Example #9, but still tempered by the green in Hansa Yellow Light.


- 11 - ORANGE-YELLOW + VIOLET-RED

Orange-yellow & Violet-red


- 11. Cadmium Yellow Medium & Quinacridone Violet ~ produce low- to mid-intensity oranges. The violet adds its influence here.


- 12 - ORANGE-YELLOW + ORANGE-RED


Orange-yellow & Orange-red


- 12. Cadmium Yellow Medium & Cadmium Red Light ~ produce the brightest oranges of all because both pigments are excellent carriers of orange, with negligible amounts of complementary colors.
