A Primer on Color Temperature
Now GREEN.
My palette will consist of:
  • Orange-yellow = Cadmium Yellow Medium (PY 35)
  • Green-yellow = Hansa Yellow Light (PY 3)
  • Green-blue = Cerulean Blue (PB 36:1)
  • Violet-blue = Ultramarine Blue (PB 29)

5 - ORANGE-YELLOW + VIOLET-BLUE

Orange-yellow & Violet-blue

5. Cadmium Yellow Medium & Ultramarine Blue ~ produce low-intensity greens because neither of these two pigments carry much green. One contains the complementary colors of the other and so work against each other
Orange & Blue
Yellow & Violet

6 - ORANGE-YELLOW + GREEN-BLUE

Orange-yellow & Green-blue

6. Cadmium Yellow Medium & Cerulean Blue ~ produce low- to mid-intensity greens, but because the Cerulean Blue is a good carrier of green, the mixes themselves are greener than those in Example #5.

7 - GREEN-YELLOW + VIOLET-BLUE

Green-yellow & Violet-blue

7. Hansa Yellow Light & Ultramarine Blue ~ produce brighter greens, but are still considered mid-intensity greens due to the violet that slightly tempers the mixes.

8 - GREEN-YELLOW + GREEN-BLUE

Green-yellow & Green-blue

8. Hansa Yellow Light & Cerulean blue ~ produce the brightest greens of all because both pigments are excellent carriers of green and contain negligible amounts of complementary colors.
